Costframe vs a generic AI agent
An AI assistant can explain an export or help write analysis code. A custom agent can also have persistent data, authorization and financial checks if its builder implements them. Costframe's distinction is its existing product workflow, not an assertion that other agents lack those controls.

A custom agent may have the same controls
'Generic AI agent' is not a single product. An uploaded spreadsheet, a read-only cloud connector and an agent with deployment tools have different data and authority. A builder can implement tenant isolation, evidence storage and approvals; their absence cannot be inferred from an AI chat interface.
Costframe's Advisor uses authorized product evidence and has plan and grounding restrictions. It cannot authorize customer-cloud changes or certify a financial result. Its available tools and failure behaviour should be evaluated as software, independently of the model's wording.
Price calculations need input evidence
A model can reason about negotiated rates when those rates are supplied. It is incorrect to say general AI always uses public list prices. The practical risk is an answer that omits its rate source, effective date, eligible usage or missing evidence.
Costframe separates retained ActualCost from catalog and configured-discount context. Missing currency or evidence must remain explicit. A fluent answer is not a provider receipt, and a model-generated savings estimate cannot by itself establish realized savings.
Choose between building and maintaining a product workflow
A custom agent may fit an organization with engineering capacity to operate its connectors, permission checks and audit trail. That team also owns regression tests, provider API changes and response release after access changes.
Costframe supplies a bounded workflow for its supported providers and detectors. Azure is generally available, AWS remains a private pilot and Google Cloud a private preview. It offers no universal agent benchmark or claim of higher model intelligence.
